Merry Christmas to my family and friends. I am taking a break from my hiatus to write a Christmas letter on my blog. Our shining star this year has been Brennon. He has grown by leaps and bounds. He started off barely communicating and now he knows all his letters, numbers, shapes and colors. He still has maintained his cuteness and he still looks like me ;-) Right now we are working on potty training. He is ready. He has even had bouts of success with it. The key is giving him Angry Birds while he is on the toilet. I predict by next year he will be fully trained and a master at Angry Birds. Holly having time off, like for Christmas and summer will increase his odds of success.
I have discovered that he knows what to do and sometimes sandbags his skills to get people to take care of him. Hmm, reminds me of me again. His personality has an air of cleverness, happiness and helpfulness about him. He likes trains, Elmo, Barney and Diego. In regards to Christmas, typing his name in toysrus wish list should pull up some stuff he wants. He is 2-3T in size. Holly has gotten him a lot of cool star wars t-shirts. I plan on making something for him for Christmas like I did last year.
About mom. Well, she is still going strong. Her mind is not as good as it was a month ago, but she is still moving around and is talkative. Hospice comes in every Tuesday to see if she wants any pain medicine and she refuses it, which IMO is a good sign. I watch Dallas Cowboys with her and she enjoys that. Especially when we bring Brennon over to eat with her. We are taking her to our Church Christmas play, which involves a 60 foot LED tv and flying sled and angels. It is a sight to see and should be fun.
This Christmas should be simple. It will be on Sunday the 25th. My sister and her family are coming on Sunday or Monday in their plane, depending on weather. So if anyone wants to visit I will have time off Monday and Tuesday. We have two trees up in our house and I just put up the outside lights. Anyways, this year has been tough but through it all I know that God's plans are greater than my own. I am humbled by how strong and fragile life is at the same time. I have learned to stay positive and not sweat the small stuff. I have learned that family is what defines who all of us are, through the good times and the bad. I am happy my mother is still with us and wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year!
Love,
Brian, Holly and Brennon Bass
